Description
Whole Mace / Javitri (جاوتری)
Mace is the dried, lace-like covering around the seed of Myristica fragrans, the same tree that produces nutmeg. Common names include Mace, Mace Blades, Javitri, Jawatri and Jawantri. Its fragrant flavour works well in savoury dishes and spice blends.
Cooking uses
Add a small piece to biryani, pulao, qorma, soups or garam masala. Remove whole pieces before serving where appropriate, or grind a small amount with other spices. Use sparingly as a cooking spice.
Benefits in cooking
Mace adds aroma to rice dishes and spice blends in small amounts. Whole blades can be ground as needed. This product is sold as a cooking spice, with no claim to cure disease.
