Coriander Seeds (ثابت دھنیا)
Whole dried coriander seeds come from Coriandrum sativum. They add a warm, gently citrusy aroma to everyday cooking. Common names include Coriander Seeds, Whole Coriander, Sabut Dhania (ثابت دھنیا), Sukha Dhania (خشک دھنیا) and Dhania Dana (دھنیا دانہ).
Cooking uses
Use in curries, dals, vegetable dishes, achar and homemade masala blends. Crush or grind as needed. Lightly dry-roast over low heat until fragrant, allow to cool, then grind for a freshly prepared spice powder. These are dried seed spices; fresh coriander leaves are a different ingredient.
Storage
Keep in an airtight container in a cool, dry place away from moisture, sunlight and strong odours. Grind small quantities as needed to retain aroma.
