Description
Small Fenugreek Seeds / Methi Dana (میتھی دانہ)
These small fenugreek seeds are commonly known as Methi Dana, Methi Seeds and Fenugreek Seeds. Fenugreek belongs to Trigonella foenum-graecum. Its characteristic aroma and bitter flavour make it a familiar ingredient in South Asian cooking.
Cooking uses
Use small quantities in achar, curry tempering, dal and homemade spice blends. Roast gently if a recipe calls for it; overheating can make the flavour more bitter. These are whole seeds, not dried methi leaves or kasuri methi.
Benefits and evidence
Fenugreek seeds provide a distinctive flavour for pickles and spice blends. They also have a history of traditional herbal use. NCCIH reports that high-quality evidence is insufficient to establish benefits for diabetes or menstrual cramps; this product is not a substitute for prescribed treatment. Consult a clinician before medicinal use, especially during pregnancy or when taking medicines.
